My NLTSGO 2011 Experience, Day 0
Since it was my (all of us, actually) first (and last) time to attend the National Leadership Training for Student Government Officers (NLTSGO), I was not expecting more than 4,000 co-delegates, the big slopes in the roads in Baguio, the change of celebrities that were to arrive, the aircon-less SM Baguio, and a lot more. You see, we rode the bus at Victory Liner Terminal in Pasay going to Baguio. It was I think a 7-hour road trip to get there. There were two bus stops, and I caught some sleep on the way there, because we left school at around quarter to 3 (supposed to be 2a.m. but Meg was late) and arrived at the terminal at around 3:30a.m.
When we got off the bus, I thought we were in a room because the air was so cold you could think you're just in an air-conditioned room! It was so amazing, the Baguio breeze. x) We rode the jeep to Teachers' Camp and filled out some forms while Emi, Giselle and Sir Chris went to the registration. A guy took a picture of my writing on my registration form. Haha! I feel like a star! Joke. :p Anyway, after the whole registration process (which wasn't like the one in Iloilo, because even if it was a bit long and we just stood there - and got to discover where the CR is along the wait - it wasn't super long and boring) Sir Chris told us that we'll be staying at a small house owned by Kuya LJ's family. We rode the taxi on the way and ate breakfast at Jollibee, and then we went outside and waited, then a woman welcomed us to what would be our own home for the next six days.
It was small, yes. Our home was two rooms divided by a wall; on one room stayed Danielle, Inah, Giselle and Tr. Tina (who was to arrive the next day), on the other stayed Sir Chris, Joanna, Paige, Emi, Meg and me. The first thing we did is search for outlets to charge our phones and turn on the TV. :)) There was a TV in each room, which was very fine for us. Hahaha! After we settled our things and luggage in our home, we went to SM Baguio. We waited for the taxis, but there were none approaching. So we walked - yes, walked - all the way to SM Baguio! In Caritas Bosconian terms, the distance we walked I would say would be from CDBS to McDo Bel-Air, with all those uphill slopes and intersections and stuff. I might be exaggerating, but that was how long I felt that walk was. :)) We passed through Burnham Park and Session Road, and walked on a steep slope at least four times. Emi, Meg and I were panting and actually sweating when we got to SM Baguio. Dang. :))
Meg bought some stuff in Watsons and then we just chillaxed in the food court. While she and Emi were taking pictures of themselves, I took the time to catch up with my Zzzz's. Yey! :)) They actually woke me up because we were going to meet up with Sir Chris and the rest of the peeps going to Teachers' Camp. When we arrived there we just waited at the tent for the program to start, and then, I saw my cousin Ryan! Hahahahaha! :)) Nice XDXD :p And then we realized that there was a long, a really really really really long line outside the Abada Hall, where we would be eating our meals. It turns out that that really really really really long line was for dinner already! Daaaang! As I have told you, more than 4,000 registered in this event, so we would really have to fight for our way if we want to, well, go our way. Wew!
But we had a dilemma. We wanted to get inside the Benitez Hall because that would be where all the celebrities would come out, and the people outside, the people under the tent (a really really big tent) would just see a live update through the really really really big LED screen. And since it was our first day, we wanted to see the celebrities first-hand. But we haven't eaten dinner yet, and there was a really long line both at the Abada Hall and at Benitez Hall. So, Emi, Paige and Joanna took take-out for dinner while we waited at Benitez Hall. We waited for an hour, and finally, they were allowing everyone to get in. Luckily we scored some seats at the back, but we were by the aisle and could see the stage (if no one would stand). While waiting for the program to start we ate our dinner.
And then finally, someone went to the stage and called for some volunteers. Some were really highly confident and flamboyant there. Haha. :p We just cheered for the ones from Region 4A. Lol. :)))) And then someone sang a song, and the name of the singer is Jeff Singson, who would also be one of our hosts for the whole event. Wee! Then he called with him a guy named TJ, I don't know his surname, but he also looks good! Haha! :))))) Also there were Kuya Jess and Ate Viel, also our hosts during the event. They introduced to us a 21-year-old story writer that posts his story on YouTube with just words and music, and this guy is Marcelo Santos III. I've known him for about a year now, and I've been watching his stories online. But that night was the night I learned that he's just 21 years old!! And when he came on the stage, he was actually kinda cute!! :') Waaaaah :')
The reason they introduced him is because he made a web series called "Baguio Love Story," a story for us NLTSGO delegates. The people were screaming with every line we saw, and it was an ear-sore. But the story was nice . . . and long that it had to have a part 2, and part 3, until part 5. Wew. Haha! And then they also told us to update our Facebook and Twitter accounts with the hash tag NLTSGO, and someone will be checking the tweets and award the selected peeps with a brand new MyPhone. Then they introduced the first guest of the night: Gab Valenciano!! Man. He was truly awesome! He was dancing and dancing and he also sang a bit . . . Plus he keeps his feet on the ground and his heart rooted to God! :') He's one of the best out there. Truly wonderful.
The second guest was . . . Makata Tawanan! :)) And he lives up to that stage name, because there was not a single minute when he was talking to us. Gad he was so funny! :)) There were also Newborn Divas and the acrobat couple, and the last guest was Beat Box Robert. If you haven't heard of him, you might want to check him out! We want to hire him for our Foundation Night and he'll just make some beats all night and you wouldn't even notice! Hahahaha! He's that amazing! :)) The program ended at around 11 in the evening. Yes, that long! :p Before ending they announced the night's winner of the MyPhone promo . . . And I won!!!! Yes! Can you believe it? Hahaha!! \m/ We looked for the people in charge but we couldn't find them, so we decided to look for it the next day instead. We rode the taxi on the way home. I took a shower first because I knew I'd be lazy in the morning to get up and prepare my clothes and take a shower then and blah blah blah. So yeah :D I slept after that due to extreme sleepiness and fatigue.
