Video of the Week: World Teachers' Day 2011

October 5, 2011 is Teachers' Day in CDBS!!! I was tasked - okay, so I volunteered myself to make the video - but only because Emi had a lot of other things to do!! :)) Yes, the video I present to you this week is made by yours truly. It's nothing much, just a collection of videos that I put together, videos of some students expressing their gratitude for the teachers, who are also our heroes. You can watch it if you want. The video wasn't smooth when it was presented in the gym. :( I'll put it here at the bottom. :)

And since we ESC officers weren't in the video, I'd like to tell you my own answers to the questions that were posted there.

Teachers are heroes because . . .
. . . of the sacrifices they make. It's not a secret that a teacher's salary isn't anywhere higher than that of a doctor or an engineer, but they continue to do their work all the same. They have to be patient with their students at the same time meeting the expectations of the school administrations. A hero is someone who makes a difference to a person or a group of people, and that's what exactly teachers do - shape the minds of the future doctors, engineers, policemen, lawyers and a lot of other professionals. It is so ordinary and common that we tend to forget how much hard work they do just to do that. Teaching is the most noble job in the world. That's what makes them heroes.

Which teacher inspired you the most? Why?
  • Tr. Jhaycee - She was my very first adviser, and I am glad that she was, because she motivated us to take the initiative in things. At first I didn't know what that meant. But she opened our eyes to greatness, and she was always concerned about us. I miss having her as our CLVE teacher, because she really lets us know more about God, what we need to do as students and Christians . . . I love Tr. Jhaycee. It's her birthday today :)
  • Sir Chet - Sir Chet inspired me to take up engineering. He believed in me, that I'm good in Math, and when he told me that I should take engineering in college, I thought, "Yeah, I guess I could do that." He made me love math more. And he's one of the best advisers I've had in high school. He's great :)
  • Tr. Oyette - Yes, I know she doesn't teach in CDBS, but she will always have a place in my heart. Because of her Trigo became my favorite math subject. I heard some of my friends and classmates that Trigo's their favorite math subject too - and that's really hard, making a student who doesn't like math like a math subject. But she successfully did it. We love you Tr. Oyette :)
  • Tr. Jean - Yes, okay, okay, so she inspired me :) I was never good in science, I admit that. But there's something about Physics, y'know . . . And if you've read my previous blogs, Tr. Jean's the reason why I got excited about it. And she told us she likes Physics because there are concepts, unlike math. As we learned more about the subject, I realized, she's right, Physics is all about concepts, and that's what's really great about science. There, I said it, science is great. But you know what was the greatest thing she taught me? She told me to just be myself and never give in to the expectations of others. That I shouldn't care what anyone thinks because I'm me. :) (P.S. To any Bosconian reading this, please don't tell her what I shared here, please! :D)
  • Sir Chris - If it weren't for Sir Chris, we wouldn't be as organized in ESC as we are. It's hard for us officers, but you wouldn't imagine his work. He's the Prefect of Discipline, ESC adviser, and recently, Echoes moderator. Not many will realize it but he's our hero. Sir Chris, you're the best. :)
Watch the video if you like! :)
