AWESOMENESS in the HOUSE!

the era of awesomeness has begun.

A Dearth* of Chances

First day of review today! So, what was up? Haha! So I had to wake up at 5 but I woke up at 5:30 . . . -.- So I guess was rushing a bit. Then Jamsy texted me and told me to come at their store which was the meeting place, so I thought I was late. She texted 20 minutes before the arranged time though, but I thought I was the only one they were waiting for, and I didn't want to be cause of delay. So my dad drove me to 1C, and it turns out I was the first one there :)) Aside from Jamsy of course. :)) So we sat there waiting for the others. Margie, Khielle, Pambid and Chelsea came, and we walked to the, hm, tricycle place :)))))))) Sorry, first timer, hindi alam ang mga tawag. XD

So we rode the tricycle to Dita, and then rode a jeep going to SciTech. But then the jeepney driver was a, um, hmm, numpty. :)) (That's an English word! English meaning like Charlie McDonnell :D) But then we were sort of numpties too :))))) Because none of us knew where we're going to be dropped off. :))))) HAHA!! We asked the driver where it is and he dropped us off somewhere and said it was to his left side. So we entered a village and looked for the school . . . And guess what? WE PASSED THROUGH IT ALREADY. Yeah, and we walked all the way there. Believe me, that was long, we were already sweating by the time we got there. -.-

We saw Sean. Yep, he's there! :D And Patricia. :D We looked at the board where the sections were posted and saw that we were all classmates!! Wooooooooo! :D Well, except for Chelsea because she didn't put her school in the registration form, I think. :( Too bad . . . Oh, I saw a girl I knew today! :)) Her name's Ariane, I think? :) Yeah, Pambid knows her, maybe she's from Dominican. :) But I didn't approach her because we've never talked to each other =)) I just see her every time we go to church. I thought she was a year older than me or younger or something. I didn't know she was my batchmate. That's kinda cool. I think. :P I've been seeing her since I was little and I know her face!! I dunno it's a bit odd. :)) I actually saw her at church yesterday. :))))))))

Aaanyway, we got our handbooks and review schedule, then we waited for someone to announce something. :)) And then someone spoke through the speakers, and he told us where our sections was. We're in 8E. Our first subject was General Science. Hmmm . . . I guess you could call it okay? Our teacher was really determined in keeping us awake and he kept making jokes while teaching. And he taught us a lot of new stuff too! That's the subject wherein I learned most interesting things today. Haha . . . I like the system there. I think that's where I'm most comfortable learning in, too bad that's not how they roll in CDBS :))) Or in most schools for that matter. :))))) Since it's just a review, Brain Train's system's a bit colloquial*. Anyway, after Gen. Sci. we had Math. The teacher there was fuuun!! He kept making jokes and punchlines and we were all laughing :))))))) Laughing our butts out in our seats. Hahaha! :)) He also asked for the "honor students" and I raised my hand and he said, "I expect a lot from you," and man was that pressuring! T-T Not to mention he's a professor of Engineering lessons at UP Diliman. Paano pa kaya pag sila mama na?

After math was break time. We just sat at one of the nipa huts . . . They have four there, one for each year. So yeah. Then after eating some snacks we headed back to the classroom, but it turns out we're already moving to the next building. We followed the teacher leading us to our room, and the teacher was Miss Regina!! :D:D I'll tell you more about her a bit later. ;)

Damn, we had to take like three flights of stairs to get to our classroom . . . T-T Haha, and Miss Reg said that after the review we're going to lose 20 pounds. :))) So Miss Reg was the one who gave us the orientation at our school, in CDBS. :D We were really excited to meet her at the review. :))) She was fun, and super super confident. Hahaha. :)) I cannot get over it, I want her to give me some of it. Lolz. :)) :P And she told us the reason of all the exceptions in English and grammar. :>

After that we had lunch already. Wew!! But we only had forty minutes and we Bosconians weren't used to that. :)) We took a jeep going to Jollibee. Yep, we ate lunch there. Problem was, there was sooo many people. T-T Some of the Brain Train reviewees aside from us also ate there. We had little time to eat. And after that we took a jeep going back to SciTech, but Margie and Jamsy were left because Jamsy had to buy something from MiniStop. So, we went ahead without them.

As we were walking on the way to the building, we saw that they were having classes already!! Damn damn damn we were late. O_O So we hurried up the stairs and went to our classroom. And guess what. THAT WASN'T EVEN OUR CLASSROOM!! Pambid and Khielle and Dimaano even went inside I think =)) Yeah that was embarrassing :)))))))))))))) When we went to our real classroom, they were already reviewing. Oh my. O_O The math teacher (cause it was math time for us, again) was different from our earlier teacher. He was cool, too. And he taught us more techniques and shortcuts than the first guy. :)) XD Then Margie and Jamsy came a few minutes later, and Margie said they walked all the way from MiniStop going here!! O_O That was amazingly fast for them to walk going here. O_O Wew!!

After Math we had Chemistry. Umm, I forgot the teacher's name but Michelle said he looked like Reeve :))))) And later Hanna and Margie agreed :))))) I think he's a Chemical Engineering student at UPLB, in his 5th Year there already. He told us some strategies and acronyms he's using in chemistry so it'd be easier for us. I think he's a really good student. XD Oh by the way, we had a seating arrangement and it was arranged in alphabetical order. And guess who my seatmate for the whole review is? Michelle!! :)))))) Nice, eh? :)) Yeah, no new seatmates for us. Haha. :)))

Anyway, our last subject of the day was the hardest. O___O Seriously, it's like super hard I don't think I'll be able to pass that subject . . . T-T It's ORIENTATION. Haha I'm just kidding . . . Just copying our teacher in that "subject." Corny no? Haha. :)))))) Anyway, he just told us about the rules and guidelines according to Brain Train . . . I kind of drifted off on my own for a while because he was discussing it, and I'm not really a fan of those sort of long discussions. :))))) XD BUT when the teacher (Sorry, I dunno all their names!!) talked about our possibility of getting into UP, I was . . . totally scarred. And super scared.

First, I have to be one of those Top 50 maybe (ECE's a quota course, and I know a lot of students are gonna enroll in there, and I do mean A LOT) test takers to get into the main campuses, and I wanna be in UP Diliman. Then I also gotta have at least a 2.3 UPG to qualify for UP Diliman (2.1 in UP Manila, 2.4 in UP Los Banos). But I don't wanna have a UPG of just 2.3, I want it to be higher than that, as high as I can possibly reach. :P Oh, and here's the, erm, catch. Every year there are 70,000 UPCAT takers all over the Philippines. Out of those 70,000, only 13,000 pass, abating* the chance of just passing the test - each UPCAT taker has approximately 19% chance. -.- And if that's not arduous* enough, only 5,000 out of those 13,000 are qualified to be in the 3 main campuses of UP: UP Manila, UP Diliman, and UPLB. And my campus choice is UP Diliman. And believe me when I say I won't settle for any other UP campus. UP Diliman all the way!! :))))

Oh, Lord. Now I know how awesome Kuya Son, Ate Dawn, Kuya Jake, Kuya RG, Ate Aloha, Kuya Erad, Kuya Mykel, Ate Thea, and all the other guardians/facilitators at CAMP are. Cause most of them are studying in UP Diliman, and man! Man, aren't they great. And I know also some Bosconians who are going to study in UP - Kuya Xtian and Ate Ana (UPLB), Kuya Ron (UP Diliman baby, so proud!!), and Ate Alayne (UP Manila!!) Little trivia: Ate Alayne is taking Medicine in UP Manila, and this afternoon our teacher told us that only 50 Medicine students are qualified there. So out of 70,000, Ate Alayne's one of the Top 50 that passed the UPCAT. Holy moly. That's what you call a super genius!!

Sigh . . . I hope I can be one too . . . I think I'm more determined to take the UPCAT and study in UP now . . . I dunno . . . It's only April and I'm already scared for August because that's when we'll be taking UPCAT . . . Sigh again . . . I can do this, eh? Yeah. I can do this. I ain't daunted. Bring it on, UP, here I come.
