College Plans Update

Learned yesterday about UP Diliman's dorms from Reg. Turns out that the dorms are occupied by one year. Like Kalayaan Dorm, it's a coed freshman dorm, so it's only for freshmen. The next year the freshmen become sophomores (unless they fail epically and stay freshmen), and they move to another dorm. If you're not from the same batch, you're not going to stay in the same dorm. So there ain't any chance of . . . *cough cough* Nevermind.

Anyway, I also learned from mom that your tuition fee at UP Diliman can vary. It depends on the income of your parents and your grades from high school. (But then Tr. Gwen said she couldn't continue studying Civil Engineering because of financial problems. . . .) So the lower income your parents get and the higher your grades, the lesser tuition fee. So UP Diliman (yeah, only UP Diliman, I wouldn't settle for any other branch) is looking like a really good choice right now. Aside from UST, of course.

UST's been my dream university since . . . okay, since 2nd year only. HAHA! =)) Oh man and I forgot why! O_O But I've always thought it's a pretty cool university. I mean, I was afraid to study in UP because of so much liberation in there, and I didn't want to go to La Salle because I might not fit in with the crowd there because we're not rich. And I wanted to go to Ateneo, but as I said, we're not rich, we couldn't afford to go there. So the remaining of the Big Four of the universities is UST, and since then, I've supported the Tigers (and Tigresses) during their UAAP matches.

On Wednesday morning, while we were eating breakfast at Pancake House on our way here to Pangasinan, mom said that UST and UP are my choices (I guess the choices she can approve of as of the moment). And I can also say that these are the top two on my mind right now. Reasons: I know Reg said that you can join if you're in any university in Manila, but if I go to UP Diliman, there's more chance to be a facilitator in the CAMP of PSYSC. I know that's a shallow reason but I really really really really want to be a facilitator and go to CAMP :( So yeah . . . Haha. BUT one thing I don't like about studying in UP is that there's more possibility that I'm gonna stay in a dorm. I don't like dorms much . . . I'm just not a fan of the whole sharing a room with some people you're not close to yet thing. Yes, I'd much rather prefer staying in a condo, where I'm all alone by myself, or maybe with two or three people I know.

BUT UP Diliman is like, the top university in the Philippines . . . Just look at its name. I'm not discriminating any other universities, but when you apply for a job, saying that you graduated from UP can improve your chances of getting in. BUT it is an old university . . . Like the facilities there might be old . . . And the facilities are gonna be an important factor on my course since it's engineering . . . But mom said that the facilities in UP Diliman are still new so yeah . . . There's still that dorm thing though :)) And also the PSYSC :)))))) And I actually really like UST, but now I've got a reason not to want to be there . . . That reason's shallow though but still . . . :(

Okay, so that concludes my thoughts about college for now. :P Just wanted to share. Haha. And I'll look back one day on this when I'm in college. \m/ Haha. :D
