SLA 2011: Ka.Ak.Bay

“Leadership is all about going back to the principles of a given problem.” – Benhur Abalos, Mandaluyong City Mayor, pure Bosconian

Road Trip
We were all set to go to DBTC Manda for this year’s Student Leaders Assembly or more commonly as SLA!! We arrived at school, and after the flag raising ceremony, we headed to the bus. Road trip! Ahaha. After about an hour and a half, we arrived at DB Manda at around 9 in the morning. That was my 3rd time to visit DB Manda, and it actually felt like home. Hehehe! We saw our Welcoming Committee. A guy named Sai. ;) Aaand Daaan! :””””> He’s DB Manda’s SC PRO, who’s also the captain of the football team even if he’s super white! Wahahaha! (I think I mentioned him in my blog about when we met up with their SC. Not his name though.) \m/ While we were walking to our rooms, I also saw Migz. Cool much? XD Hahaha! And then we learned that we’ll be staying in the 3rd year rooms for two days. Vielka and I were supposed to stay in 3-Rua, but then Reg, Micah and Val (yes, Meg was not there in the SLA because she’s still sick :( ) moved to 3-Rinaldi with the 2nd and 3rd year girls, we moved there too. Hehe! The program would start at 10a.m. so we had time to practice for two rounds. And then we just chillaxed in our rooms. ;)

Welcome to DBTC Manda!
At 10am we went to the Savio Auditorium for the opening ceremony. Someone was singing Halaga, I think, along with two other guys. And one was Mycko! I also mentioned him in my blog, the one who’s appeared in a bunch of commercials, who is also in a band! He’s the drummer of the band, but he plays guitar. Hahahaha! We heard him sing. So lovely. :””””> He sang Prinsesa. Ahehehe. I looove that. ;) And then Charles (I forgot his position but I know I saw him O.O) and another guy, his name’s Lance, walked up to the stage as the emcees. There were welcoming addresses from Fr. Inocencio and Fr. Macasaet. I forgot their first names. XP It was a bit long [and boring], but we were finally going to the canteen for our lunch. Woopeeee! We stayed with DB Canlubang during meals. Vegetables. Man! :)) We stayed for a while in our quarters (rooms) after lunch.

A Living Proof
After lunch was the motorcade to the municipality hall (Is my term right?) of Mandaluyong for the inspirational talk of Mandaluyong’s mayor, Hon. Benhur Abalos, who is a Bosconian. Oh yeahh!! As a matter of fact, a lot of their leaders there in Mandaluyong are Bosconians! Ain’t that grand? He told us about his works and plans for his city, and man, he’s my idol already. O__________O So after that we headed to two of his projects: one was a place for mentally challenged children, and the other was a city funeral home, where if you’re poor, you have all the funeral services free of charge. ;) Ain’t that awesome?! He said that, other people don’t think to do this because it’s for the dead people, and they won’t vote for him anyway because they’re, well, dead—but he does this because he wants to help ALL people. Gaaah. He’s the best. He’s the perfect example for everyone, not just Bosconians, out there. :)

In Action
We went back to DB Manda and back to our quarters for some rest. We changed clothes and headed back to the auditorium for the Action Plan Presentation. Yep. So since Meg’s not around, I was going with Paige and Emi onstage for the APP. At first I was all cool with it, but we were 2nd to present, so when DB Canlubang was almost finished I started to shake—and not because of the coldness of the auditorium. We were up next. I felt like we had the longest presentation. Hahaha. But after that we weren’t done yet, because we were supposed to answer the questions of the critics. They were all [old] women. Hahaha. And guess what? They friggin’ laughed at us. Like we were stupid or something. One of them really irritated me because her laugh had the impression of insulting and mocking us. I was just standing there quietly and not answering because a) I was afraid that I might say the wrong things and b) I was already pissed off at them, especially the one on the right facing the stage. XP I know, I’m mean, but I really hate it when someone laughs at me/us like that, like we’re stupid. There were four more action plans presented, and two intermission numbers, and in the end DB Canlubang won the best action plan. Come to think of it, though, they were the most unconfident in presenting and had the most number of grammatical errors, but they won. I guess they were that good. Ahaha. But Fr. Inno said that he applauds all of us because it was not a usual activity in the SLA, but we still tried to grasp what was happening and really thought of how to give back to people, like Mayor Abalos.

Happy Birthday, St. John Bosco!
We were running really really late, but at last, we had dinner. Woooohoo!! =)) I was getting really hungry that time. Hahahaha. So we went to the canteen and ate dinner and went back to our quarters to rest for a while. We changed into our costume for our presentation and headed to the gym for the Living Rosary. Then it was time for the Interaction Night. We were the first to perform. Waaaaaaaah. We didn’t get to use the face paint because we had no time.  Tsk. But we still managed to give a good performance . . . Hehehe! Weeeee! Then the boys of DB Tarlac (I think? Or was it Pampanga? Or Makati? Oops. I forgot.) performed a dance number, then we proceeded to the game Human Bingo. Two of the delegates asked me to sign the “magaling sumayaw” box, and I was like, “Oh, come on!!” =)))))))) The 2nd one said, “Lahat ng Caritas magaling sumayaw!” Awwww. :))))) Unfortunately, I didn’t get *toooot* to sign my “the one who caught your attention” box :((((( Dang it! There was a cute guy there, his name is Gelo. But I didn’t get his surname, dang it! =))) Sigh. XD Ahaha. After that was the midnight talk by Fr. Dranz Nolasco, I think. He talked about +20. It made me think, actually. Like if I’m gonna fulfill my promise to myself in 20 years. But he said, focus on the present. XP After that we had another game called the Handicapped Game. I was mute and deaf so I was the one who had to look for our groupmates. Hahaha. It was cut for a while for the countdown to St. John Bosco’s birthday. Oh yes! Fireworks! \m/ Awesome. Haha. And then we continued the game and went back to the gym for the processing. And finally, we said good night to all! x)

Sleep?
We went back to our quarters. We changed into our sleeping clothes and prepared for, well, sleep. It was around half past 1 in the morning. Then at around 3a.m. I woke up because it was sooooo cooold in our room! Plus, the aircon was right in front of me, and I was using my blanket as a pillow ‘cause I forgot Poopsie! ;( So I used it as a blanket and had no pillow. At around 4a.m. I found Tr. Jean awake (she slept beside me) and then we shared blankets ahahaha :))))) ‘Cause she had no blanket. Awwww. Then we woke up at around 5, and the others started waking up at 5:30 because of Michelle’s alarm. Hahahaha! They headed to the showers to, well, take a bath and freshen up. I just stayed in the room (Tr. Jean too) because I was still too lazy to take a shower. Ahaha! Then, we had the laugh yoga in the gym. It was sort of weird XD And then we had breakfast. And finally, I took a shower. Lolz. :)))))) Ahh, the freshness. Then we headed to the auditorium for the mass. It was an auditorium: it was cold and the seats were super comfy, so I couldn’t help but drift off there . . . Oops! Lack of sleep. Actually, a lot of us slept right there. O______O I felt so guilty. Wahahaha. I tried to open my eyes but there were times that they would just shut . . . Tsk tsk. But I loved the priest’s homily. ;)

I Hate This Part
Right after that was the closing ceremony. Waaaa :((((( Fr. Inocencio said a few words first. And he also asked all the SC’s of all the DB settings to come up on stage XD Weeeeeee! It felt awesome. Hehehe! :D And then they gave me certificate and other tokens of appreciation to all the settings, and the video made by Paolo was shown. But it wasn’t Paolo who did it, it was Ricardo Talento! Hahahahaha! =))))) Fail. XDXD We sang Live the Dream and danced Make a Stand (ahem, ahem) for the last time then said goodbye . . . Awwwwww!! We headed to the canteen for our last lunch there . . . Then we packed our bags and started to go to the bus. Some bought shirts. Tsk. :)) I didn’t buy any because there were no SLA shirts. Aww. Haha. And then we headed back home, a.k.a. CDBS. Awwww, goodbye DB Manda! Thank you for a very nice stay during the SLA! Ascende Superius! :)
