Feb. 18-19, 2011: YES Camp (For realz)
"The last thing I saw before I left was the two of them sitting together and talking to each other. There was one thing I remember: the fact that I had wanted it to be us. So if you want to know if it hurt, then, yes, it did. So much. I don't know when I'll be completely happy again."
HA. Okay, so YES camp. It's finally here!! Well, if you don't know (and I am sure you really don't), last year 2010 we were already supposed to have finished the camp, but it keeps getting delayed. It was even supposed to be out-of-school, but noooooooo, our assistant principal won't let us. But hey, enough of that now, because it's finally here. And by here that includes YES camp being in school, so yeah.
We were the very first ones to register since we didn't leave the school at all. :)) Sir Mike said we could set up our tents already, so we did, and did so quicker than I'd expected and without much hassle. Unlike last year, eh? :)) Hey, we learned! :)) Then we (Michelle, Hanna, Vielka and I) went to South Supermarket (thanks to Michelle's dad!) to buy snacks for midnight. Wahoo! :)) We even saw AJ's mom, and I learned that Darren got, er, injured or something. Aww. [-(
When we arrived back at school, Meg's tent was already set up. They pitched their tent right next to us. Wee! :D Then we changed clothes, and for some reason, as if time suddenly sped up there, there were already a lot of people in the camp. Dinner was supposed to be at around 6, but -- much to my dismay -- it didn't start yet, because we were still waiting for the other campers. Oh, and Jamsy and her maid arrived! Jamsy's maid = Margie. Hahaha! Anyway, while waiting to eat, Reg and I were discussing about our HP characters. HAHA. :))))) Can't tell you here, you might hunt us if you're a Death Eater. =)) Wew. And finally, after waiting, we were . . . I thought we were going to eat already, but we were just called to the Suginami Hall. AWWWW.
We prayed, then headed to the canteen. Juniors sat with each other. Weeeeee. Then we went back to the Suginami Hall and had a short briefing, then headed to the bio lab. (At least, I remember it was the bio lab.) But anyway, We were scattered in the lab into different groups. I was with Ate Anabell, Irish, and Karylle, I think. Tr. Tina introduced us to her classmate when she was in Bicol and her fellow Chem teacher. They were very different though, we could clearly see the difference. xP But it was fun because we did experiments. Cool ones. Er, not to say our normal chem experiments weren't cool, Tr. Tina!! If in case you come across this blog post. X_X Hahaha. :)) But yes, they were fun. Science became more interesting! But only when we talk about the cool experiments and not the meaning, because seriously, my brain was always leaving my head when the teacher was discussing stuff.
I looked at my phone for the time. It was around 10:30 in the evening. I thought we were going to sleep already and that we had 30 extra minutes, but just then, Sir Mike said, "These are your groupmates for your activity tonight." And I was like, "More activities? Man, I wanna lie down already." And then, he announced the first group. Kuya Christian. Then me. But I wasn't entirely listening (head in the clouds again) and thought it might be my sister. :)) Then Margie. Nooooooooooo. O_O HAHA, only kidding. Then some others but I forgot who they were there because we weren't really close :))
After all the groups and groups were announced and activities explained, we went outside the lab and headed to our groups. First activity, we were supposed to find something that was related to us. Okay, I didn't have flashlight. Good thing Margie had one -- or at least, Kuya Christian had one, and Margie borrowed it from him. So we started looking for random objects around the field (like grass, which was what I was supposed to take, telling Margie that it was because like grass, I felt like I'm always being stepped on, but then the thought seemed so gloomy and wasn't entirely true, so I gave up on that). Then she found a flag, but so unfortunately, it wasn't ours. So we just hid it again. >:) And then we started looking for other flags, along with Khielle and Hanna. :)) But still we didn't find our own flags. Tsk! And then, it was time. Time for sharing.
I had nothing to share because I didn't get anything. Plus, my brain was not entirely working then, because it was on post-cloud vacation mode. So, er, yeah . . . Then I met my other groupmates. Andgrel, Gabby, Matthew, and Isok. Wahoo! Then the horn sounded and it was time for us to find our flags. Long story short we took a longer time to find it because it wasn't in the bushes, unlike the other flags we found. Then Kuya Christian started giving us hints . . . We even went near the chapel thinking it was there :)) Then when we were coming back to the field, we saw Jacob and another guy putting a flag back inside a pot thing, seeing that it wasn't theirs. HA! It was ours! Very good. :))))
It took a long time for us to think of our own group name, design a flag, and create a yell. Finally it was decided that our name was going to be Group "Rock," CAUSE WE ROCK. Haha only kidding, I thought of that because most of the members had rock as the thing they could relate to (because that was the only thing they found). Wee. So, yeah. Andgrel (I hope I'm getting his name right) drew our flag, and in the last minute Kuya Christian said the drawing should include the burning of other groups' flags. :)) Trash talk, much? XD We went back to Suginami Hall to present, and unfortunately we were the first ones to. It was embarrassing, but okay. :))
And then I thought we were finally going to sleep, but noooooooooooooooooooo. Still no. Noooo! Sir Mike prepared an activity for us. Write numbers 1-10 in the papers and give them to your groupmates. That was fraud. :)) For me, at least. But at least now I know that Margie admires me! Then the second activity was all about colors . . . Write a description in the paper in relation to what color it is and how you interpret it, and below write the name of your groupmate who you think best fits that description. Then in the back write why you chose him/her for that color. Well, okay . . . :)) Finally, it was really finished, and we could get back to our tents! \:D/
We took a shower that night so it wouldn't be such a hassle in the morning. Thankfully we arrived at the showers earlier than the others so we finished early. Back in the tent. We ate the food we bought at South. \m/ Hahaha! :)) We could hear Meg, Reg and Val laughing next to us :)) Meanwhile, we were eating. =)) Then we were soundtripping. Then we were video-ing, but there was no light. :)) And then we started laughing, and Sir Mike kept reprimanding us. Weeeew. :)) Sorry about that. After some time we could still hear our three neighbors laughing, especially Ate Battery. :)))) Then she started telling us a scary story, and we heard Meg humming so she couldn't hear :)) =)) Valerie didn't finish, but good thing too because hearing scary stories at night keeps me awake and alert. O_O Some time after that, they said that they were already going to sleep, so we had to be more quiet, since we were the only tent that was awake. Vielka fell asleep already, and so did Hanna, but I was talking to Michelle so we stayed awake. Then Hanna woke up because she was going to pee =))) And, well, the three of us stayed up from the point on and started sharing stories. :D Dawn was approaching, and just then did I feel sleepy. Good thing we already took a shower, so we were allowed to sleep longer. Yes!
Michelle woke us up and said that it was 5:30. I still wanted to sleep of course, but at least I was unconscious for some time because if I wasn't I might have passed out. We changed clothes. Hung back for a while. Then went to the canteen for breakfast. I took whole rice -- worst decision of the day. My stomach was full already, but of course, I had to finish the thing. So there. :( Then we just hung out in the tent for a while. That was awesome. We were taking pictures and videos :)))) Then Sir Mike called us to the field. We were going to do Tai Chi. Dunno if the spelling's correct, but yeah. . . . Erm, well, it was odd . . . but surprisingly relaxing. Then we had like one more hour of free time before our parallel session. Awesome!!
We stayed in the tent, of course. :> Sung some songs, then, took pictures of ourselves. :))))) After about 30 minutes we unassembled our tent and put our things in the lobby. Hanna left because she was going to attend a wedding (no, not her own -- yet). Then we went upstairs in the labs with our fellow juniors. We were taking physics for the parallel session. To sum that up: It was FUN. And awesome. I mean, really. . . . Tr. Jean got me excited for physics next year! :)) Plus, Michelle, Vielka and I got pencil bags -- finally, I have a new one of my own! -- because we won the straw tower challenge. :)) Nice Michelle! XDXD Man, did I start to love science right then and there. :)))) Plus, Tr. Jean was such a cool teacher! XD Then, we had lunch.
Michelle left after eating, so it was just me and Vielka left. We had a heart-to-heart talk. :))) ;) Mwahaha. >:) It was cut short by Sir Mike who called us to the gym. Then I played badminton with Vielka, Emi and Paolo, but Paolo and I weren't receiving the ball much (especially me) so we played with each other. :)) I got tired after a short while (and I wasn't doing any good) so I rested on the bench, until Sir Mike told us to assemble in front with our groups. But then, there were a lot of people who left already because of either apostolate, Syala, or SAP. So, we were regrouped into 9. I was supposed in Group 8, with Meg. :)) Instructions: There are 9 posts, and we have to complete each post in 10 minutes each. So yeah.
Our first post was forensics . . . I think. It was easy and we finished it way ahead of time. XD Then the next was egg barbecue. Hahaha :)) Our first try failed, but the second one was good. Third was we had to transfer the cups and make a pyramid using the rubber band. That sweated us out. Fourth was we had to guess the ingredients of the shake: squash, bittergourd, carrots, and cauliflower. HA! Awesome. Fifth was we had to create words from the letters forming "Deoxyribonucleic acid." I put 'cylinder' and 'licorice.' XD I'm proud. HAHA. But we only formed 71 words =)) The highest then was 97, so we failed. :)))) Sixth was we had to put a remnant of an egg into a JAR and remove it using only newspaper and a lighter, no hands. We couldn't do it because of the fail lighter, so we just explained how we were supposed to do it. Meg's thumb touched the flame when she was burning the newspaper, and it started having marks. Awwwww. :( There wasn't a wound, though. . . . Seventh post was we had the make ping pong balls fly using a bendy straw. Woohoo! That was actually fun. Hahaha. XD Eighth was to get rid of the water in the JAR (but it was actually a Coke bottle) in the fastest way we can. It was taught to us in our physics session! \m/ XD Hahaha. :D Last but not least was, er, well, picture, and seriously it was weird. O_____O
Haha, then we were allowed to go home. :))
Overall, it was an unforgettable camp. :D One of the best. Nice, Sir Mike! \m/
